Sitting under a tree of heaven
under a lowering sky
wondering aloud what might leaven
my life, brighten the day,
lift inevitable pain away?

No answer came,
no insight or lightening bolt.
Except to breathe and keep on
showing up, do my best,
appreciate, notice, consider

being content.
