She said one line
that changed everything,
one true sentence easily uttered
illuminating a dark path
I had not been able to alter.
Exact words did not stick
but the gist was this:
when I had a good energy day
I did not trust it to last
to the next.
I stayed up late with
all my pent up desire
mortgaging each following day
sabotaging my future.
Trust. So simple a lesson.
Go to bed and trust
the sun will rise the next morning.
Not exactly that simple but close.
Use up in one day
only what is for that day.
Rest. Incorporate. Percolate.
Wait and see what will show up
unexpectedly.
