To be alone
to be able to take up all the space
breathe all the air in a room
flow from one moment to the next
and next without outside consideration.
Not that I am unhappy with you here,
my dears, but I change
from what could be. I change
to fit your shape, your—
even unspoken—expectation.
Your wanting to be with me
alters time and space.
And that said…
to be alone
more than enough to replenish
can be lonely
and I need you here
to remember me as loving
to bring me back
when I wander off lost.
Never forget…to bring me back,
my love.
